Rukiye Osman

Backoffice, Marketing, HR

Rukiye Osman comes from a commercial background, studied architecture, and is now a Board Member at Nightnurse. She talks about her eventful career, her idol, and her personal superpower.

What career stages have you had?
As the daughter of an official from the Office for High-Rise Buildings of the City of Zurich, I was advised not to become an architect when choosing a profession—unless I was crazy—but to pursue a "solid" education as a commercial employee. I continued to dream of becoming an architect but followed the advice and successfully completed my apprenticeship as a commercial employee. After working at several renowned companies, fate led me to Itten+Brechbühl during my vocational maturity period. Although I was supposed to become a business economist, my childhood dream caught up with me: I did an internship as an architect and completed a bachelor's degree in architecture—not because I was crazy, but because I was in love with architecture. After my studies, I worked for two years as a junior project manager and client advisor at Hämmerle Partner. Since my maternity leave in 2017, I have been with Nightnurse: first as an executive assistant, then as an HR specialist, and now on the board and management.

What is your personal superpower - and how do you use it?
I am a customer-oriented organizational talent. I always keep an overview and have a strong intuition when it comes to interpersonal relationships. This trait and my sense of responsibility make me a trusted person. I find it easy to connect with others and get things done. I take care of everyone, whether they are customers or employees!

What brought you to Nightnurse?
The mission of Nightnurse. We want to make an impact. Through our work, ideas, concepts, and plans become stronger and more sustainable. We support our clients from ideation to the finished product: as a service provider, designer, and competence broker. All of this, spiced with a lot of passion and skill in the field of architecture, still convinces me today.

Which spaces or places particularly fascinate you and why?
Places like historical sites or natural wonders that possess a kind of primal force. I occupy these spaces with respect.

What is the most beautiful thing that has ever been visualized?
I am very proud of our visualizations for Zaha Hadid. She was always my idol as the first woman to be awarded the Pritzker Prize!

What do you love doing, when you're not working as a Nightnurse?
Even in my private life, I am always a nurse! After all, I am the mother of two wonderful children who constantly remind me of the valuable things in life. I love being in nature, at Katzensee, in the forest, or on discovery hikes in the mountains with the kids. I also enjoy the soothing company of my friends for dinner or brunch. Even nurses need care sometimes…
