The optimistic creator with a passion for AI.
During his studies, Tom Böninger discovered not just his love of natural landscapes, but also a growing interest in cutting-edge technology. Today, as a landscape architect and visualization expert, he blends the tranquility of the mountains with the power of artificial intelligence. Drawing on his deep understanding of space, design, and people’s needs, he contributes to the Nightnurse team with efficient yet empathetic project work.
Which professional milestones have shaped your career?
“I earned my bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture at HSR Rapperswil, where I was captivated by the interplay of architecture, open-space planning, and three-dimensional representations. At Raumgleiter AG, I began working on my first visualization projects—starting as a project manager and eventually becoming COO and partner. In 2019, I founded ROBO STUDIO GmbH and ran it until 2024, before deciding to bring my expertise to Nightnurse. I’m also currently completing a CAS in ‘AI for Creative Practice’ to strengthen my skill set in the emerging field of artificial intelligence.”
What is your personal superpower—and how do you use it?
“I think my greatest strength lies in my ability to truly understand people’s ideas and needs. Paired with my in-depth knowledge of the visualization process, I’m able to work not only efficiently but also with a high degree of empathy. Whether it’s bringing a client’s vision to life or inspiring an entire team, I’m always striving to exceed expectations.”
What led you to Nightnurse?
“My passion for rendering and visualization started back in college and has been growing ever since. I’d known about Nightnurse since my days at Raumgleiter and was impressed by their work. When the chance arose to rent an office in the same space through my own company, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to collaborate more closely. The open dialogue and inspiring teamwork quickly convinced me that Nightnurse is the right place for me to continue developing my creative and technical skill set.”
Which spaces or locations fascinate you the most, and why?
“I’m drawn to contrasts: on one hand, I love rugged mountain landscapes for their quiet and expansive horizons, which bring me clarity and fresh ideas. On the other hand, I’m captivated by modern cities that feature bold design and clean lines. Places that marry tradition and innovation especially appeal to me. These two extremes inspire me and show up in my work.”
What’s the most impressive thing you’ve ever seen visualized?
“I’ve always been intrigued by large-scale projects like the UBS headquarters on Bahnhofstrasse or the ZKB headquarters, where history meets modern aesthetics and sparks a fascinating dialogue. I was also enthralled by the way the Europaallee development came together, as the mix of imagination and realization never fails to excite me. Equally inspiring are open-ended projects, where I can visualize anything that comes to mind—there’s no limit to creativity in those moments.”
What do you love doing when you’re not working as a Nightnurse?
“I love spending time in the mountains—climbing, hiking, or tackling via ferratas. The combination of a physical challenge and the beauty of nature always energizes me. When I’m not outdoors, I enjoy experimenting with AI tools and keeping up with the latest trends in generative AI. It’s fascinating how quickly this field is evolving and how many new possibilities it opens for visualization.”
