New Multi-Purpose Building for the Frick School Complex
Schmid Schärer Architekten designed an innovative multi-purpose building for the municipality of Frick, expanding the existing school complex in the north and providing space for additional classrooms as well as a multi-purpose hall. Their well-thought-out concept won 1st place in a selective design competition. We were honored to support this exciting project with high-quality visualizations.
The new building complements the existing school complex on the site of the current multi-purpose hall. Two structures arranged at right angles enclose a new courtyard, which serves as an entrance area for the multi-purpose hall while also offering an attractive, nature-inspired outdoor space for students. The design draws inspiration from the expansive factory halls to the east and the more delicate structures of the school complex.
A spacious foyer on the ground floor connects the school and multi-purpose hall, creating synergies. On the upper floor, a flexible space, which can be divided by curtains, provides room for modern teaching and collaborative work.
Sustainability is central to this project. The design minimizes the use of concrete by retaining the basement of the old multi-purpose hall as a foundation. The new building is conceived as a pure timber structure and features a flexible, future-oriented layout. Structural sunshades and a carefully coordinated color palette that harmonizes with the existing architecture complete the concept.
The visualizations by Nightnurse Images convey the visionary architecture and sustainable focus of the project. They highlight the architectural clarity, inviting atmosphere, and detailed design of this award-winning concept.
