The “Historical Museum of the Future” is taking shape: with the winning project Viola W., the Bern Historical Museum will undergo a comprehensive renewal. Three new structures, a spacious foyer, and an open south façade will bring more light, space and connection to the museum district.
We had the privilege of making the vision of this significant project visually tangible. First, we created the visualizations for the competition.
The project prevailed and won the competition. This was followed by further visualizations for public communication, making the vision of the new museum accessible to a wide audience.

The listed building is being respectfully complemented and reimagined in its function. Dead ends are transformed into circular routes, barriers disappear, and the museum becomes more open and accessible.
With atmospheric visualizations, we show how the new staircase brings light into the interior, how the south façade opens up to the garden, and how the historic building and new structures enter into dialogue.
With the renovation, the Bern Historical Museum will become part of the museum quarter a cultural meeting place that offers a new way of experiencing history. Light, openness, and clarity will shape the visitor experience and give the building a new identity.
Visualizations are more than images they create understanding. Through our work, we were able to translate and make accessible the architectural concepts of the winning team. In this way, visions become a shared dialogue between architects, clients, and the public.
