The revitalization project transforms the canalized river landscape between Schlieren, Oberengstringen, and Unterengstringen into a natural oasis. It aims to create a biotope with rich fauna and flora over a stretch of more than three kilometers, while also establishing a recreational area for the Limmat Valley residents.

An ecologically, politically, and socially compliant staging
The multifaceted challenges of this extensive project included artistically depicting the Limmat River in a way that was both evocative and authentic, requiring a deep understanding of landscape compositions and ecological principles. Coordination was critical among numerous stakeholders, including local authorities, environmental experts, engineers, and communication specialists. Given the significant political implications, the visualization needed to be ecologically convincing while also resonating politically and socially, as the project entailed substantial changes to the local landscape.
Technically sophisticated visualizations and impactful communication tools
Our team adopted an innovative approach, combining traditional planning with various visualization techniques. Significant portions of the landscape were digitally created in 3D, allowing planners to quickly test and optimize design options. Renderings were enhanced with Photoshop to refine the visual atmosphere and painterly quality. This creative process ensured that the final images were not only technically precise but also emotionally appealing. After two months and several iterations, our team delivered six detailed images that illustrated the Limmat's natural potential and inspiring future vision, serving as powerful communication tools to engage the public.
The visualizations demonstrate a step-by-step post-processing approach using Photoshop. Starting with raw renderings, additional elements were gradually incorporated - sky and background, river, mist effects, foreground, additional island vegetation, animals, overlay, and color corrections. Each step was meticulously executed to achieve a cohesive and visually compelling final image.
