Superposition fertile – MEP Étoile, Geneva
In Geneva’s Praille Acacias Vernets development area, the Étoile district is set to become a dense, mixed-use urban center. For the two-stage parallel study process (MEP) for its public spaces, the team led by Urbanité(s) developed the finalist proposal “Superposition fertile”. A network of squares, promenades and neighborhood streets connects the daylighted Drize river, Place de l’Étoile, Place des Jeunes and the adjacent development plots.
Nightnurse translated the large-scale landscape proposal, designed to take shape over many years, into four precise competition visualizations. Viewed at eye level, they show different places, uses and times of day while making the central idea legible: a dense, diverse tree canopy as climate infrastructure that tempers urban intensity with shade, comfortable public spaces and biodiversity. The images provided a shared visual basis for assessing the proposal in the second stage of the MEP.

Four places, one visual language
The four perspectives guide viewers through the proposal’s hierarchy of public spaces: Place de l’Étoile, Place Jolivet, Placette de la Praille and Promenade de la Praille. Repeated materials, planting and light connect the different uses into a coherent spatial system. The images clarify both the dense tree structure and the transitions between ground-floor uses, paths and places to linger.
