Urban development and community planning in Birsfelden
Since 2018, we've been involved in transforming Birsfelden's center, a strategic urban node. The project spans a 33,940 m² area, evolving from a 2017-2018 study by Harry Gugger Studio. Despite the initial project's rejection, the municipality continues striving for ecological and urban enhancement.

Design supplementation
This project faced numerous complex challenges. With architectural plans in an early stage, the visualizations had to retain a degree of abstraction. The undefined plaza design required us to fill gaps with sustainable solutions, including greenery around the building and plaza. The greatest challenge was managing the high number of stakeholders, from the investor to the local community, two architectural firms, and a communications agency. Gaining the approval of Birsfelden's residents was crucial. Finding the right tone and capturing their vision for a central meeting place required sensitivity and balance in the visualizations, ensuring they were both specific and adaptable.
Our solution respected the early stage of the architectural design by choosing a visualization style appropriate for this phase. We immersed ourselves in the local environment to capture the unique character of Birsfelden. By opting for a less detailed but lively representation of the buildings, we focused on the project's potential without emphasizing pending details. This approach highlighted essential design elements and provided Birsfelden residents with a vibrant and meaningful image of their future surroundings. This strategic visualization helped garner support from all stakeholders, contributing significantly to the project's success.
