Competition visualizations
that get your design across.

First the night nurse.
Then the jury.

In an architectural competition, your design often has only a moment to convince. The professional jurors should sense its qualities immediately. The non-specialist jurors, who do not deal with architecture every day, need to understand it at first glance. Our images speak to both.

We are architects and landscape architects. We think our way into your project and sharpen the message with you: what does the jury need to see, and what can remain open? If not everything is resolved yet, we can also contribute to the content if you wish.

We choose the visual language according to the purpose, from abstract to painterly to realistic. We bring a clear attitude, but we are not tied to any one look. The result is images that suit you and your project.

For more than 15 years we have been visualizing competitions, supporting countless winning projects along the way.

Common questions about
competitions

Here you will find answers about 3D models, visual language, source material, scheduling, costs and confidentiality.

If a 3D model already exists and is cleanly built and separated by material, we can usually work with it well. Exchange via Archicad works particularly well. If additions are needed, we are happy to take care of them. You will find more information in our export guide.

If no suitable model is available, we build it from the plans provided. For that we need the relevant plans as PDF and DWG.

Helpful are the competition brief, current floor plans, sections and elevations, any existing 3D data and information on materials.

Reference images, concept sketches and notes on the desired visual language help us narrow down the direction faster.

That is normal in a competition. We work out the messages that are already clear and show the atmosphere the project wants to convey – deliberately heightened where that serves the idea. Where not everything is resolved yet, we can also contribute to the content if you wish.

What matters is that viewpoint, image message and geometry are fixed by the preview. Fundamental changes after that take time that is usually lacking before submission.

We do not work with a fixed standard look. Depending on the project, we develop a visual language that can range from abstract to painterly to realistic. We bring our own design signature while also taking cues from your references, preferences or your studio’s existing visual identity.

If you want to be on the safe side, contact us a few weeks in advance. This allows us to reserve capacity and plan the process properly. We can sometimes accommodate short-notice requests too – just get in touch.

Ideally we plan for just under two weeks of production time, provided a 3D model exists and around three visualizations are to be produced. Shorter turnarounds are possible, but they depend on good communication and binding information.

Our Visual Workflow takes you through kick-off, image concept, development, refinement and finalization. It also shows which decisions and feedback are needed at each stage.

Three feedback rounds are planned: after the image concept, the preview and the final preview. Especially with tight deadlines, it helps when feedback is consolidated and comes from one responsible person.

Costs depend on the scope and complexity of the project – including the number of images, the quality of the source material and the desired level of detail. We therefore price each project individually and prepare a transparent quote based on your materials.

In many competitions we support several participating teams in parallel. Confidentiality goes without saying: we handle every project separately and pass on no documents, information or insights to other teams or to the outside.

Our internal processes meet high confidentiality and NDA standards. On request we additionally sign a project-specific non-disclosure agreement.
